A UK-Based Nigerian is facing unlawful deportation despite fears that he would be targeted and attacked on arrival to Nigeria due to his s*xual orientation.

The man, simply identified as, Oyenkunle moved to London four years ago for his safety. He claimed asylum in the UK because of the persecution of the LGBT community in Nigeria.

Britain plans to deport Oyenkunle alongside a hundred others this week on a chartered flight leaving for Nigeria and Ghana.

Oyenkunle expressed that he could not go back to Nigeria because friends and relatives had started harassing because he is gay.

His friend, simply identified as Joshua, said he noticed that Oyenkunle was depressed when he spoke to him. He said: “I talked to him about five minutes ago… he’s feeling depressed, he’s not eating… he’s got medicine for [post traumatic stress disorder], there’s a lot of medical conditions around him.

Oyenkunle’s planned deportation comes hours after many Britons joined the nationwide protests against President Donald Trump’s US border entry ban on citizens from seven majority-Muslim countries.
