Mahmood-Yakubu-INEC-Chairman
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has disclosed that about 41 groups are currently seeking registration as political parties.

He, however, charged political parties to always abide by the commission’s guidelines at all times, to enable conducive atmosphere for the conduct of elections.

This is just as Vice President Yomi Osinbajo, has warned political parties against diverting monies meant for public services to political parties, campaigns or other purposes.

Represented by his special assistant on political parties, Senator Babafemi Ojudu, Osinbajo further underscored that the ongoing anti-corruption war is aimed at bringing sanity to the polity, in order to sustain democracy in the country.

He recalled that the APC-led administration had to institute a probe, after an investigation revealed that a huge chunk of money meant for the purchase of arms to eliminate Boko Haram in the North-east was diverted.

The vice president added that huge amount of money designated for security, was used for campaigns by the PDP, which was in power then, while others were diverted into private pockets.
